BIBL 201 THE BOOK OF ACTS
SYLLABUS

Course Description
This is an introductory survey of the book of Acts in which we will discover the main themes, purpose, and theology of Acts.
We will briefly consider the authorship and date of Acts, and its relationship to the Gospel of Luke.
In the course of the study we will examine the theme of Jesus' instruction to his Apostles to witness throughout the world.
We will also examine the content of their witnessing and the response of those who believed the message.

Method of Study
We will examine the Book of Acts in thirteen lessons.
Please read the text in Acts before you begin the study.
There are summaries and discussion points to each lesson.  These are for your own reference and study.  They can be used as discussion topics in bible classes.
At strategic points in the study we will consider certain points introduced by Luke in the context of the larger New Testament teaching.
All of the materials needed for the study will be provided in the course notes.  However, the student may be referred to Bible Maps to examine certain geographical and political factors of 1st century Christianity.
Please read each text in Acts carefully, as well as the summary to each lesson.
